Health Equity Across Populations and the Life Course

Health equity means that everyone has a fair opportunity to attain their highest possible level of health, regardless of age, gender, income, disability, ethnicity, geographic location, migration status, or other social circumstances. Yet avoidable and unjust differences in health persist within and between countries. These inequities accumulate across the life course, shaping health from pregnancy and early childhood through adolescence, adulthood, and older age.
