About the session

Investing in the health and nutrition of women, children, and adolescents saves lives and is a high-yield economic strategy for poverty reduction, job creation, and long-term prosperity. The world has the know-how and cost-effective tools to end preventable maternal and child deaths – and the evidence of high-return on investment is strong. Yet recent gains in reducing mortality in low- and middle-income countries are at risk of reversing due to climate and health shocks, fiscal constraints, and protracted conflict.

By aligning international support behind country-led plans and integrating financing and delivery of proven, low-cost, scalable solutions for women and children into primary health care, protecting and accelerating progress is possible and sustainable. This session will bring together leaders from governments, global partners, funders, civil society, and private sector to discuss ways to bolster country leadership, domestic financing, and health system resilience to expand access to affordable, quality, lifesaving care to hundreds of millions more women, children, and adolescents. The discussion will also explore how these efforts can help usher in a new paradigm for global health that delivers greater value for money, economic opportunity, and resilience.
