Prof. Julio Rakotonirina

Professor Julio Rakotonirina has been the Director of Health and Humanitarian Affairs at the African Union Commission since October 2022. In 2019–2020, he served as Madagascar’s Minister of Public Health. He has more than 20 years of experience working in African countries, including Madagascar, Benin and the Comoros, as a consultant, medical doctor, public health specialist (PhD) and professor of epidemiology. His expertise includes health systems management and epidemic management.
