About the session

Trustworthy health information is essential for resilient health systems — yet today’s challenge extends beyond content quality to the integrity of the wider health information ecosystem: the institutions, rules, platforms, and processes that keep information evidence-based, transparent, and protected from manipulation.

Health Information Integrity refers to the conditions that make such ecosystems trustworthy across the full information lifecycle. Where quality concerns accuracy and timeliness, integrity asks whether the systems that produce, circulate, and govern information can remain honest and uncorrupted. The distinction matters: political interference, commercial pressures, fragmented governance, and AI-generated content are not merely quality failures — they are integrity threats that undermine public trust and the right to health.

This interactive workshop examines how governance, accountability, and independent certification can strengthen Health Information Integrity and disinformation resilience. Drawing on emerging principles, regional experiences, and practical examples, the session will explore how different regional governance models approach the integrity of health information ecosystems. Perspectives from academia, public institutions, international organizations, civil society, and the technology sector will inform a multi-sectoral discussion on platform accountability, public-interest obligations, institutional oversight, community involvement, and mechanisms to make trustworthiness visible and verifiable, such as independent certification models. The workshop will focus on what can be learned across regions, what governance mechanisms are emerging, and how trustworthy health information can be protected as a public good.
