Prof. Dr. Carlos Robalo Cordeiro

Carlos Robalo Cordeiro is the Head of the Pulmonology Department at Coimbra University Hospital, since 2016 and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Coimbra since 2019 where he serves as Full Professor of Pulmonology since 2016. He is President of the National Council of Portuguese Medical Schools (2025-2026) and President of the Executive Board of the Coimbra Academic and Clinical Centre (2022-2024 and 2026); he is also President of CODEM-LP (a cooperation network of Portuguese-speaking medical schools, 2026-2027), Past President of the Portuguese Respiratory Society (2010-2015), and Past President of the European Respiratory Society (ERS, 2022-2023), having served ERS as Secretary General (2017-2019) and in the presidential cycle (2020-2024). His main field of interest is Interstitial Lung Disease, Obstructive Airways Diseases, Respiratory Infections and Global Health, having published 158 articles as first author and 316 as co-author, 142 with an impact factor, and being or having been peer reviewer of 16 national and international journals and Board member of 8 national and international journals; he has received 19 national and international scientific awards. He has supervised and/or is supervising 5 doctoral theses and has co-supervised 4 doctoral theses.
