Dr. Stein Emil Vollset

Stein Emil Vollset, MD, MPH, DrPH, leads the Future Health Scenarios forecasting team at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, University of Washington, where he is professor of Health Metrics Sciences. He was based in Seattle from 2018 and, for the past three years, at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health in Bergen, Norway. He previously served as professor at the University of Bergen and as Director of both the Medical Birth Registry and the Centre for Disease Burden at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. His work spans Norwegian and European cohort and registry studies and, for more than a decade, burden of disease research and forecasting of the Global Burden of Disease Study. Dr. Vollset holds a medical degree from the University of Bergen and master's and doctoral degrees in biostatistics from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Public Health.
