About Santino Severoni

Dr. Severoni’s career spans over two decades across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, dedicated to addressing the complex interconnection between health, migration, and human movement. His guiding philosophy is clear: no one should be excluded from healthcare, regardless of their country of origin or migration status. Under his leadership, the WHO Health and Migration Programme has become a vital global resource. Dr. Severoni played a key role in developing the first Global Action Plan on Refugee and Migrant Health, the Global Evidence Review on Health and Migration, and a global research agenda that amplifies new knowledge and voices on this critical issue. His work brings together governments, UN agencies, and researchers to build equitable, resilient health systems that respond effectively to shifting populations. In a world increasingly shaped by climate change, conflict, and displacement, Dr. Severoni’s vision is a world where every migrant and displaced person is seen, counted, and treated with dignity. He also mentors young professionals and champions equity and human rights in public health.
