Dr. Minnie Kibore

Dr Minnie Kibore, MD, MPH, is a paediatrician, global health leader and passionate advocate for every child’s right to survive and thrive. As Africa Senior Manager for Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition at the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, she leads CIFF’s mission to end preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths in Africa by 2035. She oversees a US$225 million portfolio of investments across 13 countries in East, West and Southern Africa, working with governments and partners to translate evidence into sustainable, scalable improvements in health systems and quality of care. With over two decades of experience, Dr Kibore has worked across clinical care, research, programme implementation and strategic philanthropy. She has helped shape major initiatives designed to transform maternal and newborn survival and strengthen Africa’s health workforce, including the US$500 million Beginnings Fund and the development of a US$500 million Health Workforce Philanthropic Fund. She has also led investments in community health, early childhood development and care for small and sick newborns. Among her pioneering achievements, Dr Kibore spearheaded the establishment of Kenya’s first human milk bank, integrating donor human milk into neonatal and nutrition services for vulnerable infants. The model is now fully funded by the Government of Kenya. Earlier in her career, she led and supported programmes that reduced neonatal and preterm mortality, strengthened obstetric and newborn care, and expanded research capacity among health professionals. Dr Kibore serves on several global and regional health committees and has published widely on newborn health, maternal care and medical education. Her leadership is grounded in an enduring conviction that strategic investment, government ownership and strong partnerships can create a future in which no child’s potential is limited by where they are born.
