About Mark Henderson
Mark Henderson is Executive Director of Corporate Affairs and Engagement at Wellcome, one of the world’s three leading charitable foundations, and a member of its Executive Committee. He leads all aspects of communications, focused on strengthening Wellcome’s reputation and influence to enhance its contribution to health and society.
He is responsible for Wellcome Collection, the free London museum and library exploring health and the human experience, as well as teams working to understand and improve trust in science and to engage the cultural, creative and entertainment industries in telling stories about science and health.
Mark joined Wellcome in 2012. Prior to that, he spent 15 years in journalism at The Times (London), where he served as Science Editor and won multiple awards for his reporting. He is the author of The Geek Manifesto: Why Science Matters, which explores the relationship between science and politics, and 50 Genetics Ideas You Really Need to Know.
Outside work, he is passionate about cricket, helping to run the girls’ section at Dulwich Cricket Club, and is also an avid runner and skier.
