Alberto is head of the healthcare practice of KPMG in Italy. He has 25 years’ experience at local, regional, national and international level, both in the public and in the private sectors. Since 2001, he has been collaborating with the Italian Ministries of Health and of Finance. He is former member of the National Commission established to define and maintain the basket of health services covered by the national health fund. In KPMG, besides his national role, he is part of the global healthcare network. He has led a number of projects for domestic and international clients, including the European Commission. He has been leading the large national program aimed at redesigning the network of health services in several regions whilst cutting the deficits accumulated until 2007: this program has led to a cut of healthcare deficits worth over 3 billion euros. In addition, he led the team that designed the national e-health strategy and supported the implementation of the national health information system. For the EU he analysed the status of implementation of the crossborder healthcare directive. His main professional focuses currently are ensuring the sustainability of health systems whilst improving the quality of services, and digitally enabling the evolution of care models, especially for chronic and frail patients.
