Angela Loyse is an infectious diseases clinician and researcher, working in clinical trial and implementation projects, in the fields of advanced HIV disease and, in particular, HIV-related meningo-encephalitis. Angela was a lead investigator in the ACTA trial and a member of the WHO Expert Comimittee that produced the 2018 revised guidance on the management of cryptococcal disease. She is currently the chief investigator of the EDCTP/ANRS funded DREAMM (Driving REduced AIDS-associated Meningo-encephalitis Mortality) implementation project in 3 African countries. Another key role is as chair of the cryptoMAG advocacy group which aims to improve access to diagnostic tests and essential antifungal medicines for cryptococcal meningitis. Angela has recently been appointed as a strategic advisor for the implementation of UNITAID/CHAI's grant on advanced HIV disease in 7 African countries.
