Dr. Fatiha Terki is a globally respected expert in nutrition, public health, and food systems, currently serving as Senior Advisor to the Food Security Committee in Rome. Her career spans over 25 years of leadership across international organizations, where she has consistently driven transformative change in health and nutrition policy.
At the World Food Programme (WFP), Dr. Terki has held a series of influential roles, including Deputy Director of Operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Country Director in both Senegal and Burundi, Deputy Director of Nutrition, and Head of Global Partnerships, Innovative Financing, and Knowledge Management. In each position, she has championed integrated approaches to food security, nutrition, and sustainable development, often working in complex humanitarian settings.
A medical doctor with a PhD in epidemiology, Dr. Terki brings deep technical expertise in nutrition, HIV, and reproductive health. Her work has spanned program design, policy development, advocacy, and resource mobilization, with a strong emphasis on building the capacity of governments and NGOs to deliver impactful nutrition interventions.
Her influence extends beyond WFP. She has served as Global Coordinator at UNAIDS, where she led efforts to integrate nutrition care into HIV treatment programs, and as a senior partner in the HIV department at the World Health Organization. She has also collaborated with major financing institutions such as the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, overseeing critical funding portfolios across multiple countries.
Dr. Terki is a recognized leader in global nutrition initiatives. She co-chaired the private sector network within the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) movement and has contributed to high-level platforms including the Japanese Government’s Nutrition Initiative (IFNA), the UN Food Systems Summit +4, and the Nutrition for Growth Summits. Her governance experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for UNITLIFE, a UN-led initiative focused on innovative financing for nutrition.
