Shiva Raj Adhikari, PhD is an experienced Economist and public policy specialist, who holds the position of Professor of Economics, at Central department of Economics, Tribhuvan University and President of Nepal Health Economics Association. With more than 25 years of experience in the field of Economics, he has conducted research on various aspects of health economics and development economics.
Prof. Adhikari has worked as an independent researcher or as a member of collaborative teams with several national and international organizations, including the World Bank, ADB, DFID, ODI, RTI/USAID, IFPRI, HKI, WHO/Nepal, WHO/HQ/Geneva, UNICEF, and the Government of Nepal. He led the progress report of Sustainable Development Goals from 2016 to 2021 and conducted the mid-term review of the 15th Plan (2076/77-2089/80) for the National Planning Commission.
He has served on numerous high-level commissions and councils appointed by the Government of Nepal, such as the Public Expenditure Review Commission, Intergovernmental Fiscal Council, and Senior Advisor to the National Planning Commission. Since November 20, 2020, he has chaired the Economics Subject Committee at Tribhuvan University.
Prof. Adhikari has an impressive track record of presenting his research findings at international conferences and has published more than 200 articles with more than three thousand and five hundred citations, with h-index 19 and i10-index 31, in national and international peer-reviewed journals, including The World Bank Economic Review, Health Policy and Planning, Health Economics, The Lancet, Health Policy, Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine, Infectious Diseases of Poverty, and International Journal of Healthcare Management. Additionally, he has authored books published by Springer.
