Prof. Stephan Zipfel, studied Medicine at the University of Heidelberg, Frankfurt/Main and London/UK. In addition he wrote his MD thesis and Habilitation (PhD) at the University of Heidelberg. He was trained as physician and specialist in Psychosomatic Medicine at the University Hospital in Heidelberg and Dept. of Psychological Medicine at the University of Sydney/Australia. Since 2003 he his Professor, Chair and Head of the Department of Psy-chosomatic Medicine, University of Tuebingen, Germany; President of the German College of Psychosomatic Medicine (DKPM), Director of the KOMET Centre of Excellence for Eating Disorders, General Secretary of the International Federation of Psychotherapy (IFP), Vice Dean Academic Affairs Medical Faculty Tuebingen.
His research focuses are on: Eating disorders and obesity, Psychooncology, Education Re-search and currently with a major focus on refugee health. He is editor and associate editor, as well as member of editorial boards of various national and international journals (e.g. Psychotherapie, Psychosomatik, Medizinische Psychologie (Thieme), BMC Journal of Eating Disorders & BMC Bio-Psycho-Social Medicine, Lancet Psychiatry)
