Ms Aishath Samiya completed Master of Health Services Administration during 2017 at Dalhousie University of Canada. She completed her Bachelor of Health Information Management in Curtin University of Australia. She is an accomplished leader with more than 21 years spent in the area of health, with a main focus on health systems approach to improving health.
She has worked in numerous progressive posts in different departments at main public tertiary hospital and Ministry of Health, and has vast experience in working on global health issues of regional and global importance. She started her public health career at main tertiary hospital in Maldives in 1998. She did her undergraduate studies in 2000 in Health Information Management at Curtin University in Australia. After completing her First Degree, she led the Health Information & Medical Records team at main tertiary hospital in Maldives. In 2017, as a Master’s Degree graduate, she was transferred to Ministry of Health. There she was an administration and information management head and worked as an Assistant Director at Department of Medical Services. Department of Medical Services was mandated to manage regional, atoll and island level health services. She also worked as the Deputy Director General of Policy Planning and Health Information Division where she oversaw the works of all national policy, planning and health information related activities. Apart from that, she has represented Maldives at several health governance meetings bringing focus on national health priority areas at regional and global level. She has also served as a member of previous national health research committee since 2010 and is also a member of current national health research council.
