Dr Makoy is a dedicated public health worker with over 20 years of experience, skilled
in problem analysis, designing and implementing solutions, and training on Primary Health Care Programmes.
Dr Makoy is director for the South Sudan Guinea Worm Eradication Programme and Preventive Chemotherapy, Neglected Tropical Diseases (PC NTDS) since 2015. Before, he led the South Sudan Guinea Worm Eradication (SSGWEP), MoH. South Sudan for over nine years. Prior to this, he was the coordinator for Primary Health Care Programmes of the State Ministry of Health- Bahr Al Jebel (Southern Sudan). He studied at the Health Training Institue c/o University of Gezira (Sudan) and has a higher diploma in Preventive an Curative Medicine. Also he has a certification in International Course on District Health Care of the Royal Tropical Institue (Netherlands) and in International Course on Applied Epidemiology of the Emory Universitiy (Atlanta, USA). In addition to the roles of the Director for the South Sudan Guinea Worm Eradication Programme, he also head the department of Preventive Chemotherapy Neglected Tropical Diseases. In his position, he is the Co-chair for the meeting of the taskforce force for Neglected Tropical Diseases. He leds the review of the situation analysis for Neglected Tropical Diseases and the development of the National Master-plan for NTDs (2016 – 2020) and participates in the Planning, and guide implementation of annual Mass drugs administration for PC NTDs. Also he supervises the conduct of post-MDA surveys to validate coverage reports.
