About Amy Maxmen
Amy Maxmen is a science journalist, editor, and photographer who covers the entanglements of evolution, medicine, policy and of the people behind research. Her stories appear in a variety of outlets, including National Geographic, Nature, Newsweek, Nova/PBS, Al Jazeera and the New York Times. Her reporting from Ethiopia on the origin of humanity is anthologized in The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2015. She previously served as senior editor at Nautilus, and currently works as a freelance editor for several outlets. Prior to writing, she earned a Ph.D. from Harvard University by spending a great deal of time in the ocean and beside a microscope in Honolulu.
