About Rosebella Iseme

Dr. Rosebella Iseme-Ondiek is a Clinical Epidemiologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Population Health at Aga Khan University Medical College, East Africa. She teaches research and epidemiological methods and provides methodological support to faculty- and student-led projects. With over a decade of experience in health research, her work has primarily focused on non-communicable diseases. She holds a PhD in Community Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology, a Master of Public Health (with Distinction), and a Bachelor of Biomedical Science—all from the University of Newcastle, Australia. She has also received academic and professional distinctions such as the AREF-MRC Towards Leadership Fellowship, the WHS Young Leaders in Global Health Award, and the University of Newcastle Research Scholarship for Mental Health & Wellbeing. Dr. Iseme-Ondiek’s research emphasizes community-driven approaches that harness local resources and knowledge to address global health challenges. She currently leads the Kaloleni-Rabai Health and Demographic Surveillance System (KRHDSS), a population-based platform in rural coastal Kenya that tracks over 103,000 individuals. The system captures demographic, health, socioeconomic, migration, and vital events data annually, providing a rich longitudinal resource and robust sampling frame for diverse population-based research.
