Shunichi Fukuhara

Prof. Shunichi Fukuhara received clinical training at University of California at San Francisco, American board-certified in Internal Medicine, and practiced Cardiology in Japan. After his clinical training and practice, he received training in clinical epidemiology at Harvard University. His main Research interests are clinical evaluative science and data base research. He is a Vice Governor of ACP (American College of Physicians) Japan Chapter and was elected as a MACP in 2015. His department has graduated about 70 students (MPH and PhD) and 60% of them became faculty members at leading medical universities, including 6 Professors and 14 Associate Professors. In 2005, Prof Fukuhara started an intensive training program for clinical research (MCR), having produced about 180 alumni and more than 840 publications by the students and alumni. Prof. Fukuhara has represented Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine as M8 Alliance member for the World Health Summit. He co-chaired the World Health Summit Regional Meeting Asia 2015 in Kyoto and presided the 7th World Health Summit in Berlin in October 2015. In 2012, he was appointed to be a Vice-President of Fukushima Medical University, as an additional appointment of Kyoto University. He founded a Center for Innovative Research for Community and Clinical Excellence (CiRC2LE) in 2013. This center started fellowship in clinical/community research.
