Prof. Dr. Karl Max Einhäupl is a German neurologist and former Chairman of the Science Council. Since September 2008 he is Chairman of the Board of Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
Prof. Einhäupl finished his studies in human medicine until 1974 and completed his doctorate in 1975 at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) in Munich. In 1986 he was habilitated in the field of neurology and in 1988 became appointed professor at the Neurological Clinic of the LMU Munich with a focus on neurological intensive care.
In 1992 he was appointed Professor of Neurology at the Humboldt University Berlin. From 1993 to 2008 Prof. Einhäupl was Director of the Department of Neurology of the Charité Berlin. In 2008, he succeeded Prof. Dr. Detlev Ganten as Chairman of the Charité in Berlin.
