Jean-Marc Cavaillon is honorary professor at Institut Pasteur, Paris. He was head of the Unit Cytokines & Inflammation (2001-2017) and director of the Department "Infection and Epidemiology" (2006-2009). He is presently scientific officer of the French National Research Agency (ANR) in charge of the antibioresistance priority research program. At Institut Pasteur, he is co-director of the course "Innate immunity and infectious Diseases". He has been President (1998-2000) of the International Endotoxin Society, and president of the European Shock Society (2016-2018). He has been Associate-Editor of Cytokine (2002-2009), Associate Editor (Europe) of Shock (2014-2019) and member of different Editorial Boards of Innate (e.g. Journal of Infectious Diseases, Frontiers in Immunology, Scientific Reports, Journal of Intensive Medicine). He has been teaching innate immunity in French Universities and abroad. Prof. Jean-Marc Cavaillon has published 170 scientific articles, 114 reviews and 59 chapters in books on infection, innate immunity and septic shock (h-index = 63). He is the author of the first book published in French on cytokines (1993) ; a book "Sepsis and non-infectious systemic inflammation" with Dr. C. Adrie (2009); and a book in 4 volumes "Inflammation – From molecular and cellular mechanisms to the clinic" with Prof Mervyn Singer (2018).
