Dr. Erick M O Muok: BSc, MSc (cellular Immunology, PhD (Molecular Med) is a Principal Research Scientist at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Ag. Deputy Director at the Kenya Medical Research Institute, Centre for Global Health Research, Regional coordinator for Neglected Infectious Diseases (NID) within the East African consortium for clinical trials (EACCR) network of excellence (eaccr.org). Dr. Muok, in collaboration with Dr. Diana Karanja and Dr. Pauline Mwinzi (WHO), established the KEMRI Neglected Tropical Diseases Unit at the KEMRI Centre for Global Health Research in Kisumu in the early 2000s. In addition to his substantial experience in conducting basic science and biomedical research, mentoring and training health care and research personnel to enhance local and international capacity, he has a strong interest in researching the impact of climate change and areas of system strengthening, nutrition, parasite Immunology resistance of targeted NTDs like Schistosomiasis and other soil transmitted helminths. He is a former Post-Doctoral Fellow at Emory University, Emory Vaccine Center in Atlanta, Georgia, USA and is a fully-trained Clinical Trial Monitor (CRA – Clinical Trial associate). Dr. Muok is a management graduate from Kenya School of Government (KSG) on Strategic Leadership and Management and project management graduate of the University of Washington USA.
