Prof. Elisabeth Pott was appointed honorary Chairwoman of Deutsche AIDS-Stiftung in 2015
She studied medicine in Bonn and Kiel. Professor Pott completed her studies in 1976 with the licence and the graduation as a Doctor in forensic medicine.
After this she worked in hospital and passed a further qualification in surgery. Then she became advisor on Health Care and Early Diagnosis in the German Federal Ministry for Labour and Social Affairs.
In 1981 she was certified as Medical Specialist for Public Health. In the same year she joined the Ministry of Social Welfare of the state of Lower Saxony as Head of Unit with responsibility for Public Health and Health Care.
From 1985 until her retirement in 2015 she was Director of the Federal Centre for Health Education and Health Promotion. Prof. Pott was directly responsible for development and implementation of the German National HIV Prevention Program from the start until now.
In 2007 she was appointed Honorary Professor at the Institute for Epidemiology, Social Medicine and Health Services Research at the Medical University of Hanover.
