Raina Ivanova is a 17 year old climate and child rights activist from Hamburg, Germany. In 2019 she became one of 16 petitioners in front of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, petitioning 5 countries who violate child rights through their contribution to climate change. She leads the Climate Club at her school and is part of UNICEF Germany’s Youth Council.
The consequences of climate change disrupt Raina’s daily life, thoughts, and dreams. She and her younger sisters worry about the rising temperatures. Raina tries to soothe her little sisters’ worries, although she gets emotional when thinking about the climate crisis, because she knows that she and other young children in the world will be the most impacted.
