Kareen Jabre is the Director of the Division of Programmes at the Inter-Parliamentary Union. She is responsible for directing the organisation’s various programmes of support and policy guidance to parliaments. These include standard setting work for democratic parliaments, strengthening parliament’s institutional capacities in emerging democracies and post-conflict societies, enhancing their ability to advance gender equality, to empower youth, to promote sustainable development, tackle climate change and advance equity in health and health emergency preparedness.
Previously and for 13 years, she managed the Gender Partnership Programme of the organisation, focusing on the implementation of projects to support women in parliament and the promotion of women’s rights. Before working for the IPU, Kareen Jabre worked at UNESCO. She holds a Master’s degree in political science and in history.
