Manfred Bruch is a Pharmacist by education and obtained his PhD with a thesis on Pharmaceutical Technology from the University Bonn, Germany.
He currently leads the group at Roche headquarters responsible for the technical and logistics aspects of Licensees worldwide as well as technical, contractual and logistical parts of product family divestments. In this context he also is strongly involved in Roche’s Africa Supply Strategy as well as supporting Industry Associations in compiling inputs on pressing policy questions and aligning Industry answers on new draft guidelines.
Prior to taking up his current role he from 1999 to 2009 lead the group responsible for designing manufacturing strategies for pharmaceutical production and packaging of F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. In this role he oversaw the development of the manufacturing structures over the next 5-8 years to best support the Business Plan. This included the responsibility for preparing and orchestrating the implementation of strategic moves including the necessary capital expenditure projects. In this time period he was responsible for the technical integration as well as spin off of several acquired/divested businesses.
He has broad experience from the shop floor to management level in all areas of the supply chain and gathered international experience in Germany, Switzerland and Spain. During his first ten years at Roche (1984 to 1992) he worked in pharmaceutical manufacturing. He was responsible for building a new antibiotics filling plant and later on became site manager of the local Roche site Madrid, Spain.
He also works as a guest lecturer for courses on pharmaceutical manufacturing and logistics at several Universities.
