About Borna Nyaoke-Anoke
Dr. Borna Nyaoke-Anoke is a clinical researcher, and global health leader who serves as Head of the Global Mycetoma Disease Program at the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi). She has medical, public health, clinical trials and epidemiology training from the University of Nairobi, the University of Liverpool, Harvard Medical School, and Stellenbosch University.
At DNDi, Dr. Borna leads efforts to develop and expand access to innovative treatments for mycetoma, a severely neglected tropical disease that disproportionately affects vulnerable populations in low-resource settings. She has played a key role in advancing global partnerships between researchers, governments, health institutions, and affected communities, including leading the world's first randomized controlled clinical trial for mycetoma.
Her research experience spans epidemiological and simulation studies, COVID-19 and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) drug development trials, and Phase I and II clinical trials for HIV and Ebola vaccines. Through her work, she brings a unique perspective on how Product Development Partnerships can drive innovation, strengthen global health architecture, and accelerate progress toward ending diseases of poverty.
This perspective positions her at the forefront of efforts to ensure that life-saving health innovations reach populations most often left behind.
