About Oriol Lopez
Oriol López is a research and development specialist for Doctors Without Borders (MSF). He is currently based in Tokyo and in charge of implementing a drone network for transporting medical items. The organization's aim is to develop drones with a range of 80 km (about 50 miles) carrying 2.5 kg of cargo in regular operations. Doctors Without Borders expects to commence test operations in fourth quarter 2016.
Oriol is an engineer by trade. He's done technical and logistics work in more than 15 countries. Between missions he honed his skills in design, programming and building robots. His actual portfolio includes also 3D printed prosthetics, renewable energy and shelter solutions for displaced populations.
