Irene Ayakaka is currently the East African Region Medical Advisor at the German Leprosy and Tuberculosis Relief Association (GLRA), East Africa Regional Office (EARO). Prior to this she was project manager for the Uganda Tuberculosis Implementation Science Consortium, a collaborative project with several component implementation science (ImS) projects aimed at improving tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis and management. She was a research associate and project manager at the Makerere University College of Health Sciences under the Uganda Tuberculosis Implementation Science Consortium (U-TIRC) a collaboration of researchers from the Yale School of Public Health; University of California San Francisco; Johns Hopkins University and Makerere University who have several NIH funded ImS projects and studies that employ rigorous research methods.
