About Ayesha Raza Farooq

Ms. Ayesha Raza Farooq is the Prime Minister's Focal Person on Polio Eradication, leading Pakistan's efforts to Eradicate Polio through high-level political advocacy, strategic oversight and coordination with federal and provincial governments and development partners. She previously served in the same role from 2013 to 2018, steering the programme through one of its most challenging periods and helping strengthen emergency operations, improve accountability and restore international confidence. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to public health, she was awarded the Sitara-e Imtiaz, one of Pakistan's highest civilian honors. With more than 27 years of experience in law, academia and public service, Ms. Farooq is also serving in her second tenure as Chairperson of the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC), where she has led policy reforms to advance children's rights. She is also the chair of the special statutory committee on Anti-Rape legislation, and has led the development of Anti-Rape crisis cells, and played a key role in establishing Pakistan’s first Sex Offender Register. A former member of both the National Assembly and the Senate of Pakistan. She is a gold medalist in LLB from the University of Punjab and earned her MBA from LUMS, where she was placed on the Dean's Honour List
