About Augusta Tang

I am a Year 3 MBBS student at the University of Hong Kong and am currently pursuing an MSc in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. I am honoured to serve as the co-moderator for the Opening Night Ceremony on October 11, 2026. My academic and professional interests are rooted in global health, health equity, and community-based care. These interests have shaped my research experience in ophthalmic epidemiology and public health, including work examining the socio-behavioural factors associated with worsening visual acuity. I have presented my research at the Asia-Pacific Ophthalmic Innovation Society Conference in Beijing in November 2025 and at the 41st Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Congress in February 2026. I have also contributed as a research assistant to a project developing an eye care screening programme for implementation at the Sham Shui Po Community Careage Clinic. Beyond research, I have sought to embody the values of global health through community engagement, cultural exchange, and service. As a GX Youth Ambassador, I represented the foundation as Master of Ceremonies for its 7th field trip to Timor-Leste, where we delivered health education on dengue fever prevention and participated in cultural exchange activities. As an HKUMed Ambassador, I have represented HKUMed at various faculty events, including the Endowed Professorship Celebration and Faculty Induction Day.
