About Asha Mutesi Rajab

Asha Mutesi Rajab is a Community Health Worker (CHW) from Nairobi, Kenya, with several years of experience serving her community through health promotion, community mobilization, advocacy, and referrals to essential health services. She has been actively engaged in community health work since 2018 and is attached to Ushirika Dispensary, where she works closely with community members to promote health awareness and access to appropriate care. Asha is also passionate about community leadership and the empowerment of women, young people, and vulnerable families. Through her community-based work, she has supported health education, gender-based violence awareness, social support, and community empowerment initiatives. Her experience has strengthened her understanding of the challenges faced by CHWs and the importance of recognizing, training, supporting, and integrating CHWs as an essential part of the health workforce. Asha is passionate about CHW advocacy and believes that CHWs should have a meaningful voice in decisions affecting their work and the communities they serve. She is committed to using her experience and leadership to amplify the voices of CHWs and contribute to stronger, more equitable community health systems.
