About Anwar Ogrm

Anwar Ogrm (he/him) is a trans Muslim advocate based in Paris and Movement Building Lead at Global Action for Trans Equality (GATE). His experience spans trans, feminist, and anti-racist grassroots organizing, organizational development, and international advocacy, with a focus on trans and gender diverse communities. At GATE, he leads initiatives that strengthen movement infrastructure, build coalitions and support community leadership in health and human rights responses. His portfolio includes managing GATE's membership structure of 200+ trans-led organizations worldwide, coordinating cross-regional movement-building, tailoring tactical capacity-building, and supporting organizations in exploring economic resilience and resource diversification strategies during funding crises. Anwar previously served as Co-Director of TGEU, Trans Europe and Central Asia, and held a key role in the launch of the Center for Intersectional Justice in Berlin, Germany. He has also contributed to the International Trans Fund’s Grant Making Panel and served as a strategic advisor to American Jewish World Service on trans issues. His work connects local organizing with global movement infrastructure and policy, bringing community knowledge into discussions on HIV, access to care and sustainable financing. He holds degrees in political science and history, and a master’s degree in sociology.
