About Amirhossein Takian

Amirhossein Takian (MD MPH PhD FHEA) is the Senior Scientist and Lead at the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research at the World Health Organization (WHO), Geneva, Switzerland. He has been Professor and Department Head of Global Health Policy; Founding Director, Centre of Excellence for Global Health (CEGH), Vice Dean at the School of Public Health; and the Founding Chief of Research, Health Equity Research Centre (HERC), Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), Iran. He was the International President, World Health Summit (WHS) in 2019 and has been an elected member of WHS Executive Committee since. He is a Founding Council Member of the Virchow Foundation (Germany); Co-Chair, the Lancet Commission on Migration & Health (2025-27), and Visiting Professor at Swiss Tropical Public Health Institute (2026). He has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles on global health governance and equity, plus 25 books, including the Editor of the landmark Reference Book of Health Policy in Iran (2021).
