Dr. Katende is a public health specialist with over 15 years of district, national and global level experience. He has worked in the east African region, mainly Uganda and Tanzania and supported programs in 6 countries. He has managed a Private Sector hospital, worked in public facilities, Faith Based Organizations, International Non-Governmental Organizations, and Regional Intergovernmental organization currently. He has more than 12 years of experience managing public health programs funded by the United States Agency, for International Development (USAID), focusing on service delivery, grant management, human resource capacity development, health systems strengthening. At regional level he has worked for the East African Community on regional health policy focusing on sustainable financing, HIV and AIDS, maternal and child health issues. He has keen interest and expertise in sustainable financing, Health Policy, Capacity Building in general, programming for - HIV/AIDS, Malaria and maternal health, Health Information Systems and data analytics. Other interests include health promotion, clinical services, operational research, Non-Communicable diseases (NCDs), mortality and morbidity patterns, evaluation of health programs and passion for mixed farming / agribusiness.
