Saadiya Razzaq obtained a M. Phil in Economics from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad. Her specific areas of expertise include health economics, health financing, health system strengthening and institutionalisation of health accounts in Pakistan. Moreover, she has conducted a comprehensive qualitative and quantitative research on poverty related issues, and has been engaged in different monitoring & evaluation and costing studies/activities. Before joining SDPI, she was working as Research Economist at Pakistan Institute of Development Economics, Islamabad. Prior to that she had worked as HR Consultant with JSI in the Health System Strengthening and Policy Unit (HSSPU), and as Financing Specialist with the WHO (HSSPU), where her main task was to provide evidence-based policy advice to the Ministry of Health. Before joining WHO, she worked with GTZ as Health Economist, developing Pakistan’s first ever National Health Accounts. She also worked with the National Health Policy Unit (NHPU, TAMA funded) and UNDP/UNOPS Center for Research on Poverty Reduction and Income Distribution (CRPRID). She also engages in teaching and is a visiting faculty with the Health Services Academy, Islamabad, Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad and PIDE for master and M. Phil. Courses.
