Tim Martineau is the Acting Deputy Executive Director,
Programme Branch and the Director of the Fast-Track
Implementation Department at UNAIDS. He joined
UNAIDS in 2006, working until 2008 as the Director of the
Executive Office and subsequently in 2011 to 2016 as
Chief of Staff.
Mr Martineau currently leads the organizations support to
countries as they look to implement comprehensive FastTrack
responses to the HIV epidemic. Working with
country focused teams, the Fast-Track Implementation
Department pulls upon the collective experience and
knowledge of the organization, its cosponsors and key partners such as the Global
Fund and PEPFAR. The Department puts in place practices to enhance
collaboration and programmatic performance monitoring, working in conjunction with
the UNAIDS’ regional, country and liaison offices.
Prior to joining UNAIDS Mr. Martineau worked with the United Kingdom’s
Department for International Development in a number of country and regional posts,
advising on bilateral health and AIDS programmes in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
Mr Martineau is a qualified nurse and has a degree in social sciences as well as a
masters in health policy and planning from the Nuffield Institute at Leeds University
in the United Kingdom.
