Dr. Kaale, a Professor of Medicines Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs at the School of Pharmacy, has dedicated over two decades to enhancing health systems and building capacity in the medicines regulatory framework across several countries, including Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Madagascar and Botswana. His research has significantly contributed to the development and validation of analytical methods and inter-laboratory cross-validation studies, marking him as a leading figure in his field.
In his role as External Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Medicine Testing Laboratory, Dr. Kaale oversees a collaborative network of over 40 laboratories, a testament to his commitment to establishing a robust quality infrastructure within the African continent and beyond.
Dr. Kaale's expertise and dedication have been recognized on numerous fronts, including his pivotal role on the Expert Panel for the United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) from 2015 to 2020, and his leadership positions within the National Technical Committees at TMDA and the Tanzania Bureau of Standards. His efforts were further acknowledged with an Award for Outstanding Contribution.
He acted as chair of the technical committee on Regulatory Capacity Development (RCD-TC) for AUDA/NEPAD and member of the Interim Executive Committee on Establishment of the College of African Regulatory Science Professionals.
In addition to leading his laboratory to achieve ISO 17043 Accreditation in 2020, Dr. Kaale has been appointed by WHO as a member of the Expert Advisory Panel on International Pharmacopoeia and Pharmaceutical Preparations.
Dr. Kaale's scholarly output includes over 90 papers and three book chapters published in prestigious peer-reviewed journals. His work not only advances the scientific community's understanding of medicines quality assurance and regulatory affairs but also significantly impacts public health standards worldwide.
