Simona Gueorguieva is a foreign policy advisor to President Michel, dealing with the international aspects of COVID-19, migration, justice and home affairs, security and defence and the Western Balkans.
From 2014-2020 she was a member of the Cabinet of the Secretary-General of the Council of the EU, dealing with crisis management including migration, impact of COVID-19, as well as foreign affairs, among others.
In 2018 she was based in Sofia for nice months to support the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council, assisting the Prime Minister and the Minister for the Presidency in the coordination of EU policies.
Simona Gueorguieva joined the Council of the EU in 2012. Before moving to the Cabinet, she worked on the EU's oldest policy - the Common Agricultural Policy - and supported the negotiations with the European Parliament for the rural development funds for 2014-2021.
Simona Gueorguieva is fluent in English, French, Dutch and her mother tongue, Bulgarian. Before joining the Council, she worked in the finance sector as a lawyer, as well as in the European Parliament.
