Hiroshi Nishiura is a professor and department chair at the Kyoto University School of Public Health and Graduate School of Medicine. Hiroshi acted as a member of the advisory board of COVID-19 control of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, playing a key role as an architect of theoretical foundations of public health response to COVID-19 in Japan. He also served as a member of the Tokyo Center for Infectious Disease Prevention and Control (Tokyo iCDC). Hiroshi is a theoretical epidemiologist with strong research experience and track record in vaccine studies, emerging disease studies, and epidemic modeling. As a research technique, he uses mathematical and statistical models for all of his original studies. His research interests span the areas of statistical epidemiology of infectious diseases, epidemiological modeling and biomathematical formulation of the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases.
