Maayan Levy, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Microbiology Department of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She performed her graduate studies in the Immunology Department at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, focusing on intestinal innate immunity and the microbiome.
After completion of her graduate work, she established her research group at the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. Her lab studies the role of host-microbiome interactions in infectious and inflammatory diseases, with a particular focus on the role of microbial metabolites in the regulation of host physiology. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the Dimitris Chorafas Prize, a Searle Scholarship and the NIH New Innovator Award.
