Dr Clemens Martin Auer, until June 1, 2022, Special Envoy for Health, Ministry of Health in Austria and Vice-Chair and Member of the Executive Board of WHO, currently President of the European Health Forum Gastein and member of some other international boards in the health sector. In his former position as Director General at the Austrian Federal Ministry of Health (2003 – 2018) he was responsible for and the initiator of several major health reform projects in Austria, especially for eHealth, Primary Health Care, Pharma policies, finance and organizational changes in the overall health system. He was the Co-chair of the eHealth Network of the competent authorities in the European Union, Co- Chair of the EU Procurement Board for COVID 19 Vaccines. He started his professional career in the early 1990s as Political Director of the Austrian People’s Party and joined the Ministry of Health in 2003 first as Chef of Cabinet chief and later as DG. Clemens Martin’s academic background is philosophy and political science; he holds a doctor’s degree from the University of Vienna. Clemens Martin Auer was elected EHFG President on 14 June 2017.
