I’m Abayneh Gujo Desta, Executive Director at Federation of Ethiopian Association of Persons with Disabilities (FEAPD). I have Bachelor degrees in Accounting and Management, Master’s Degree in Development management from Arbaminch University and St. Marry University respectively besides PhD candidate in Texila American University.
Before my current position, I had served DIRES for Development (D4D), LINK Community Development (LCD), Italian Center for Child Aid (CIAI) and Arbaminch Rehabilitation Center (AMRC) in managerial positions. I, started with my current position as Executive Director at FEAPD since August 2017 for last over 8 years, and transformed FEAPD as a prominent disability movement leading organizationin the country in the last eight years.
During my time in FEAPD, I am continuously working in collaboration with development partners to ensure inclusion and eliminate inequality in health, education, employability and inclusive human right activities. Since many years we are working in collaboration with CBM and HI in different projects funded by the German government and other European Countries in bases of Member OPD Capacity Building, Addressing Health and Education Service inclusion, Human Rights and governance.
I’m currently board member of Authority of Civic Society Organizations, Civic Society Forum, Ethiopian Prosthesis Orthotics Service, Gamo Development Association, Paralympics and Wheelchair basketball sports and also I’m advisory board member for Ethiopian National Census Commission, Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission, National Health System Inclusion working group and National WASH program.
I participated in different research works in the areas of inclusive education, health, employability and food security.
