Sonal Mehta is the Chief Executive of India HIV/AIDS Alliance. With over three decades of experience in sexual health and development, she is skilled in programmatic management, which includes planning, designing and development of various developmental programs. In her capacity of Alliance India’s Chief Executive, Sonal leads the Alliance programs with oversight to capacity building, technical support and advocacy to strengthen the delivery of effective, innovative, community-based interventions to key populations affected by the HIV and TB epidemic, with a particular emphasis on marginalized populations including men who have sex with men (MSM), transgender, hijras, sex workers, people who inject drugs (PWIDs), youth, and people living with HIV and TB. Prior to Alliance India, Sonal was Challenge Fund Manager in the DFID program that led to many path breaking interventions in India, including brining oral substitution therapy for people who inject drugs. She also has experience working within the Government’s AIDS Control Program at state and national level. Sonal has received her MSW from University of Vadodara and her International Masters in Practicing Management from McGill. She has done her Masters in Science in International Management from Lancaster, UK.
