Tyra is a specialist in public health medicine with a PhD in epidemiology. She has worked with different aspects of infectious disease epidemiology for almost 20 years. Her main areas of interest are surveillance of infectious disease, epidemiological methods and outbreak investigation and control. She has worked with surveillance of influenza and other VPDs and was heavily involved in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She has played a leading role in the development and implementation of the Danish Immunisation Information System and has conducted vaccine-effectiveness and safety studies using the unique Danish e-health registries. She serves as an alternate member of the Danish Epidemic Commission under the MoH and is appointed as the National Focal Point for Surveillance and alternate member of Advisory Forum in the European Center for Disease Control (ECDC). She supervises MDs under training in public health and teaches medical students and Master of Public Health students in infectious
disease epidemiology at the University of Copenhagen. Tyra is a project leader of the network “European Monitoring of Excess Mortality for
Public Health Action” (EuroMOMO) comprising 29 partners from 26 countries and are involved in a wide range of other European projects.
