Mathias Krisam studies medicine and social sciences in Berlin. He undertook medical electives in Ethiopian and Kenyan hospitals, interned in the Social Determinants of Health unit of the WHO and was a visiting associate at the Boston Consulting Group. He is writing his dissertation thesis on Latin American Social Medicine and participative health programmes in Latin America. Furthermore he initiated a medical student exchange programme between the University of Nairobi and the Charité Berlin in addition to founding a Global Health student group in Berlin. So far the group has examined postcolonial structures and the German role in Global Health and compared diabetes prevention programmes in India and Germany. After his graduation he plans a master’s degree in Health Policy to be equipped for positions in Germany’s public health services in the long-run.
