Anja Mehnert is a qualified psychologist, psychological psychotherapist specializing in behavioral therapy, as well as professor and head of the department for medical psychology and medical
sociology at the University Hospital of Leipzig University. Her scientific focus is on psycho-oncology, intervention and health services research. She is the author and co-author of numerous original works
and is active on various national and international editorial boards.
Anja Mehnert-Theuerkauf, PhD, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Medical Psychology and Medical Sociology at the University Medical Center, University of Leipzig, Germany. In 2005, she completed her PhD on posttraumatic stress disorder in breast cancer and worked at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, NYC, as a postdoctoral research fellow (2007-2008). In 2010, she completed her Habilitation thesis at the University Hamburg as well as her training as a licenced psychological psychotherapist specializing in behavioral therapy in 2013. She has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers, several books and holds editorial positions for journals such as Frontiers Psycho-Oncology. Psycho-Oncology and Journal of Cancer Survivorship. Her academic interests include psycho-oncology, psychotherapy research and health services research as well as mhealth and health literacy.
