Karin Modig is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Institute of Environmental Medicine, unit of Epidemiology, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. She has a master in Economics from Stockholm University, and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the Department of Public Health, Karolinska Institutet. Her research concerns the health of the ageing population. The research questions address health development and the health status of the ageing population, the driving force of longevity, and the societal consequences of an ageing population. She works in the intersection of Epidemiology and Demography, using large quantitative data sources such as population statistics and administrative health registers. Karin is the course director of the master course in public health epidemiology at Karolinska Institutet and is responsible for several postgraduate courses, as well as supervision of PhD students. In addition to her position as a researcher at Karolinska Institutet, she is appointed guest researcher at the Max Planck Institute of Demography in Rostock, Germany.
