Kana Halić Kordić is a final-year medical student at the University of Zagreb, Croatia, and Vice President for External Affairs at the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA), representing 1.5 million medical students worldwide. Her work focuses on global health, healthcare professionals’ education, youth engagement, universal health coverage, and digital health policy.
Kana has represented IFMSA at the World Health Assembly (WHA), the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), and the World Health Summit (WHS), bringing youth perspectives to discussions on health policy, system strengthening, and equitable healthcare solutions. She serves on the WHO Youth Council Working Group on Health Literacy and Patient Safety and the Executive Council of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).
Through her involvement in international initiatives, Kana has contributed to projects enhancing medical education, learner support, and health system innovation, including serving as a youth representative in the development of the WFME Declaration on Institutions’ Responsibility to Support Medical Students, Physicians in Postgraduate Education, and Physicians in Practice.
She is also actively involved in research on medical education, global health, and health systems, presenting her findings at international conferences. Kana advocates for meaningful youth involvement in global health governance, bridging the gap between young health professionals and decision-makers. Her experience in advocacy, research, and capacity building positions her as a strong voice for innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability in tackling today’s pressing health challenges.
