Faraaz Mahomed is a Program Officer for Mental Health and Rights at the Open Society Foundations in New York. From Johannesburg, South Africa, Faraaz is a clinical psychologist by training and has an MA in Human Rights and Development Policy. Faraaz is also a Doctor of Public Health candidate at the Harvard School of Public Health. Before that, he worked as a Senior Researcher at the South African Human Rights Commission, focusing on issues of equality and non-discrimination. He has consulted with national governments, the UNOHCHR and various civil society organizations on mental health and human rights.
